Perfect posture will add to your confident appearance more than any other contributing factor. Here are some of the benefits of perfect posture:

1. Proper posture builds good health by allowing the inner organs to function properly.
2. Speech is improved by giving more power to your voice through correct position of the diaphragm.
3. Body alignment gives a more youthful appearance.
4. Clothes will hang better.
5. Tension is reduced through proper alignment, which reduces fatigue, resulting in a more relaxed
appearance.

Photo Movement is a living art. The model’s job is to bring that art to life. There is a place inside of the model that creates the substance of the photo shoot. It is the expression of that place that allows the photo shoot to be successful, not a mechanical placing of the hands on the hips. This is the most important aspect of photo movement to remember. The model must understand cause and effect. The place inside of the model is found and thus expressed. Great movement is the effect or expression of that place. It is up to each model to decide where their “place” exists and what is in it. When you photo pose, how do you express yourself?

RIVALRY: This one can be tricky. Some people bring out our primitive characteristics like hate, gossip, and meanness. Some of this is okay, but we need to see it for what it is and not get stuck in it. Who are your rivals?

COMPETITION: Competition is normal. We need to learn to use competition to stimulate us to grow in ways that we want to grow and to take on new challenges, instead of making us feel as if we’ll never be best, so why try? Tell us who you compete with.

IDENTIFICATION: We need to have people we can identify with who like to do what we like to do and have values similar to ours. Who do you identify with?

Check back next week for Part III.

SUPPORT: We all need support in order to feel connected to other people. It’s natural and it’s important. Who supports you?
