Here are a few basic Auditioning Tips to keep in your hip pocket for when you are auditioning for that modeling or acting job:

First and foremost, you should be confident, smile, and always have a positive attitude. Be sure to act excited about what is happening around you, and always follow instructions. At many auditions, including the ones at the Barbizon Modeling and Acting Centers, we ask that you bring recent pictures with you for visual reference.

Next, always dress appropriately. Believe it or not, what you wear can mean almost as much as how you look. Make them believe that you are taking the audition seriously by putting some thought into how you present yourself. Be sure not to wear clothing that distracts from the real you. Keep jewelry, make-up, and clothing colors to a minimum. Keep your hair combed and simple. Also, wear shoes that you feel comfortable in.

Lastly, never show up late! If you show up late for an audition (even the ones at Barbizon), brace yourself for disappointment. To avoid this, make sure that you know where the audition is being held well ahead of time. Not just the building, but the room or area as well. Imagine your panic five minutes before your audition when you're still running the halls searching desperately for the audition room and then realizing that you're in the wrong building.

Modeling and Acting may seem easy. However, models and actors with training and experience are the most sought after. Taking modeling and acting classes, like the ones offered by Barbizon, will train you and help you learn these guidelines and more that you will need to follow when you audition.
